Welcome to Iowa. Once in a blue moon, this is a place that can get national attention for anything out of the ordinary. I think we have something unordinary. The year of the storm. Mother nature doesn't like us apparently. Tornadoes, floods, winter storms, and the whole kitchen sink thrown by her has hit this state harder than a linebacker to any Detroit Lions quarterback. (There even have been tornadoes reported in Missouri and Illinois from YESTERDAY.) Disaster has been a common term when talking about weather, and I believe that all Iowans want it to go away. Without having to worry about a flood for the second time this year, may I add. In the past three weeks, we have seen significant amounts of ice, snow and sleet; not to mention 60 degree weather for those of you reading from the southern portions of the country or state.
Let's all hope that the new year brings peace and quiet. Give us some time to take a deep breath from all this messes. Remember this, however: we are in Iowa.
